Headrot started out in late 1988 with Skip Bradshaw (d), Jody G. (g) and Chris Sears (g) as a concept band. In early 1989 Bassist Derek Moniz joined. That was the start of it but there would be many changes before the final line up!
Tuned down to B and all ready for heavy with five songs they had been practicing they played a couple of shows that didn't really go over to well.
One night while at a party Skip Ran into a popular local speed/thrash metal band SELF DESTRUCT and started talking to Guitarist Mike Brown it was like these guyz new each other forever after smokin a bunch of weed Mike asked Skip to come down and try out drumming for SELF DESTRUCT he agreed. But it didn't quite work out that way. At the time no one in SELF DESTRUCT wanted to keep it going everybody wanted to do something different.
So SELF DESTRUCT Vocalist Ken Ruhle and Guitarist Mike Brown joined HEADROT, Bassist Joe Lewis joined VITAL REMAINS.
HEADROT almost immediatly started practicing. Jody G. was no longer a part of HEADROT, Mike Brown and Ken Ruhle learned the five songs that HEADROT already had plus Mike and Ken added five of their own songs.
Now HEADROT had ten songs down and decided to go into the studio to record, it was like a big expencive party waste of money and time.
Now was the time Skip Bradshaw and Mike Brown decided there needed to be changes made, Chris Sears was asked to leave HEADROT. So they scaped the demo and most of the old songs, the line-up was now Skip Bradshaw Drums, Mike Brown Guitars, Derek Moniz Bass, Ken Ruhle Vocals.
Now it was back to writing and practicing, after eight months of continuos practice in late 1990 HEADROT went back into the studio to record sober this time. The demo was finally done, a little unpolished but that was how they wanted it raw and heavy so a few thousand copies were made and were ready to be released, since hatred, anti christian, blood, guts, dismemberment and canniblizism was everything HEADROT's music was about.
The first demo was intitled "I Gulp Your Guts" released March of 1991 featuring "C.F.I., He's Dead, Tortured By Satan, Expirements In Hate, This Is Not A Test, HeadRot(Do Us), Deli Massacre, Beyond Recognition, and the tile song, I Gulp Your Guts". The demo was a hit in the underground death metal scence.
Now HEADROT needed to promote thier demo they needed to do some shows. Mike Brown HEADROT's Guitarist knew a couple of guys in another local band PROCREATION he got in touch with Dan Sauro and asked if they were doing any shows and if so could HEADROT get on the bill as well, after talking abit Danny asked Mike if HEADROT wanted to take a trip to New York because Danny knew a band there that wanted PROCREATION to come and do a show with them, the band was the now imfamous MORTICIAN. So PROCREATION and HEADROT headed for NY. It was a small show but it was tite lots of partying HEADROT had a great time just hanging out with MORTICIAN.
Mike and Skip were still unsatisfied with the band something just wasn't clicking. Mike was hangin' out with Joe Lewis (ex-VITAL REMAINS bassist) and started telling Joe that something just wasn't quite right with HEADROT. Joe suggested they get a new singer Mike told Joe that him and Skip were sorta thinking that too but HEADROT vocalist Ken Ruhle was a great guy he just had a little problem not showing up for practice and being drunk all the time but so were we but we always showed for practice.
HEADROT did a few more shows. So we started looking for another singer It didn't matter to Ken really because now he had more time to drink which was cool.
Another party and everybodies there Joe, Dan, Skip, Derek and Mike they were all talking when Joe told Dan HEADROT was looking for a singer, to make a long story short: Dan Sauro left PROCREATION and joined HEADROT. Dan proved to be just what HEADROT was looking for, jacked, putrid and heavy a fucking great vocalist!
HEADROT did shows with PUNGENT STENCH, ROTTREVORE, REPULSION, MORTICIAN, HUMAN REMAINS, VITAL
REMAINS, AUTOPSY, PHLEGM, INCANTATION, BRUTAL TRUTH, DECOMPOSED(US), DREKETA, EMBALMER, GUTTED PULP, DISABLED, LUCIFER'S HAMMER, BLOOD OF CHRIST, MUTILATION, CADUCITY, CIANIDE, TRANSGRESSOR, NUTSCREAMER, CORPSE GRINDER, BURIED BENEATH, SHUD, FESTERDAY, IMPALED NAZARENE, IMPETIGO, OBSCURITY, and UNBOUNDED TERROR. the list is long.
Headrot did two demos an EP and a full length and various live recordings "I Gulp Your Guts", "The Agonizing Sufferance of Dismemberment" "Headrot" and the full length that was never released "Feasting Upon The Flesh" but on this site you will here some tracks off of the unreleased HEADROT!
